Executive Director of Alabama FWB Children’s Home Employed
Eldridge, AL, October 12, 2016, – The Alabama Free Will Baptist Children’s Home Board of Directors announced the hiring of Amanda Mitchell as Executive Director of the Home. She had been serving as the Interim Director since October of last year. In addition to her new responsibilities, Mitchell will continue her role as the Social Worker, supervising the child care program for the ministry. Mitchell will begin in her new role effective today.
“We are thrilled to have someone with the experience of Mandy at our Home as Director”, said Rodney Yerby, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Mandy has provided to our ministry valuable knowledge of child welfare and a desire to make a difference in the lives of hurting children. She will be an asset to the Home as Executive Director, the same way she completely elevated the Director of Child Care position.”
Mitchell, a native of Ozark, Alabama, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work in 2005 from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She is a Licensed Social Worker and came to the Home in that capacity in August 2011, having served six years as a Child Welfare Caseworker for Children Services in Ohio and Mississippi. At present she is enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a Masters of Arts. She and her husband Chris, who serves as Pastor of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Amory, Mississippi, have three children, Audrey, Chase, and Spencer.
“The Board has been very impressed with Mandy's leadership and stewardship of the Home during her tenure as Interim Director”, commented Yerby. “We have full confidence in Mandy as our permanent Director.”
“I am very honored to be offered this position” Mitchell expressed. “It definitely is not what I expected to happen a year ago, but with the Lord’s help I will do my best to fulfill the ministry He has entrusted to us.”
